SwampClan is a brand new Clan, but their history is great. It all started about 25 moons ago, in a place called the Floodlands. The Floodlands were a great place to live, with plenty of space, and lots of prey and fresh water. The Floodlands had only one flaw. Each high-water, the lakes swelled, flooding the Strip, the narrow bit of land the group of cats lived on. When the group arrived, they had about 50 cats of all colors, sizes, and genders. During the first few high-waters, many cats were lost and carried away by the rushing current. Just the first flood took 8 cats away. The high-water season always was deadly, but the group used the seasons they called dry-water and leaf-down to recruit new cats to join the band. But, they always lost more than they gained. By the time they had only 29 cats left, one young cat named Whip found a cave that was behind a thick forest of pines. They used that the next high-water, and no cats were lost. The leader and founder of the group, Lion, stepped down as leader, giving Whip his role.
Moons later, a cat named Berry helped a cat named Tiger when he was injured, and Whip named her the healer of the group. Moons later, at high-water, the group was entering the cave, when the stones collapsed, killing 11 cats, leaving only 18. Lion and Tiger both died. During the cave-in, a starry cat appeared. Only Whip and Berry could see it. The cat said this: Greenleaf is beginning. This time is a time of hope for the Clans. But, it is not good for you. A wave of enemies will rise, and destroy you all. There is a way to save you all. Follow the dark sky's light for safety. Leave this place. StarClan will guide you.
